Great food ! Are Fresh ingredients, also amazing and fast service :)
I love his service, sushi, and his portion. He knew that I'm new to the city and he gave me two sushi for sample and told me to come back. He definitely has a really strong customer service quality. It's not your typical sushi bar but the food is really delicious, cheap considering the quality, FRESH FISH. super extremely fresh. He has some swing moves when he makes the sushi. Very Recommended!
MoreThe best sushi in Pittsburgh! Always nice and fresh! Won't go anywhere else! Andy make us laugh every time. He's hilarious! Always a wonderful experience!
MoreAndy is the best we stop by when we are in Pittsburgh. It's fun to see him prepare your food. I can tell he enjoys his job.👍
MoreAndy’s work is awesome, so is his attitude: always energetic, always positive, and always friendly. It is an enjoyment watching Andy’s “dance” of sushi making. No better thing than earning respect by doing a good job. This bar in the fish market is run by himself but wins over lots of fancy places - it shows itself in the rating and reviews. Andy’s Sushi is definitely one of the reasons bringing me back to Pittsburgh.
MorePlace is awesome! He does his own sauces and Mackerel and a bunch of other stuff. Always fresh and delicious.
MoreSushi and the scene here is better than most. Staff is always timely even when they have a full house. I will be back with my coworkers.
MoreAndy was super nice and had amazing Sushi
I regularly stop by purchasing some food in this spot. I enjoyed the speedy service and well prepared dishes. I recommend this place.
MoreLove Andy's friendliness and ability to make me yummy gluten-free sushi upon request.
MoreAndy is so friendly and personable, and makes some yummy sushi!
Chef Andy Has to have the freshest and tastiest sushi in Pittsburgh. This place is inside Wholeys and does offer seating upstairs. Chef will do rolls that are not on the menu, pictured is a dragon roll(wasn't cheap)
MoreThe setup and atmosphere is unique and potentially off-putting to some, depending on how you like his strong personality, but I enjoyed it overall. The sushi, though, I found to be too strong and unsubtle in taste. The sweet sauce on all of the rolls drowned out any of the intricacies of the ingredients, and the fish didn't seem all that fresh, which is odd given that this place is inside a fish market.
MoreIt's a little stand in a fish market, I was told there's a place to eat upstairs. We did take out. First time here, just dropped in. We ordered sushi for two, and it was phenomenal. Andy gives nice thick cuts of fish on the nigiri, and the fish is fresh and delicious. We chatted and he gave us a spring roll to sample - which was cooked perfectly crispy. Andy is great and was telling us how he travels to Vietnam and Thailand for month for vacation. Summary- Food: The sushi we ate was some of the best I've ever had, ever. Ask Andy about his mango sauce, it's great with Tuna. Atmosphere: It's in a stall in a food market, but it'll be great to grab some and eat outside once it's warm again.
MoreMost people look for sandwiches and beer when visiting Pittsburg but I was in search for good local restaurants and fresh fish. I happened to be walking by the Robert Wholey & Co Fish Market and stepped in to see what was inside. Along side all the beautiful fish was an adorable and tiny area as you walk in called Andy’s Sushi Bar. The space is quite small with jut enough room for him to stand in but the flavors and love this man has in his food couldn’t be bigger! Andy made me several kinds of sushi and I was blown away by it all. Andy said he has been making sushi for over 30 years and you can believe it. His creations are perfection and packed full of yummy delight. I can’t wait to come back to Pittsburgh and have more!
MoreAlways have such a wonderful experience eating here. I have been going to Andy for sushi since I was 10 years old. His sushi was actually the first I ever had. No other sushi has or ever will live up to his quality. He makes the experience fun (he is a very quirky guy). Best sushi you will ever eat. Please eat here for your own good! (The rolls in the pictures are the “Andy Special”.)
MoreAbsolutely delicious sushi! Decent menu, very reasonable prices, friendly service, and portions are even a bit larger than expected. A must try! Note: Due to popularity and the business being ran by one person, lines and wait can be long.
MoreAndy is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! I am blessed to be able to travel nationally and internationally and have had some spectacular sushi. No one, anywhere, is better than Andy. He only serves the freshest fish and he is brilliant at what he does with it. While I cannot recommend Andy's food highly enough, I will mention that this is a neat lunchtime destination. If you eat there, you are eating in Wholey's Fish Market. It does have a charm of it's own, but it is not the place to take your significant on your anniversary..
MoreBest sushi in Pittsburgh.
I have eaten his sushi since he opened. Seafood is always fresh and does not skimp on the amount of fish. When you order at the counter he will customize the rolls for you if you want some extra ingredients. My favored place to get sushi.
MoreHad a great experience eating here. Andy was very conversational while he made our order. We have the rainbow roll, with four kinds of fish, and our youngest child even ate some, which really surprised us. Fortunately Wholey's has seating you can use to set. we and Andy both agree that we wish she was located farther from the door, especially since it was so cold that day. Highly recommends trying it, especially if you are a fan of good sushi.
MoreReally fresh sushi and fast service. Andy is quick to dish out insults but was nice enough to recommend the yellowtail, which almost melted in my mouth.
MoreAndy was Awesome ^-^ making sushi from hand takes a little bit but while we were waiting he made it fun and got everyone to laugh, the food was absolutely amazing. And it was my first time trying octopus and he added extra sauce to help just in case. I'm very happy about the whole experience ^-^
MoreBest sushi in Pittsburgh after tried tens different bars. Very friendly and sushi is delicious. The first time we ordered 13 pieces sushi with Maki. Then we ordered 19 pieces. Now we have 19 pieces plus California roll. You can tell how much we love it.
MoreAndy does it right and is one of the best sushi chefs in town. The price is great and the quality of fish is even better. He can make just about anything in the small booth and will also probably have one or two specials on the board that are delicious, creative, and fresh. Check it out after lunch on a weekday when it’s a little slower
MoreToday was my first time stopping by and I was not disappointed! He was hilarious and his Sushi is phenomenal. Will be back for sure.
MoreAndy is awesome. He will hook you up with the special of the day and you should accept it if you know what is good for you. The fish if FRESH and so is the sushi chef. Best experience. Go. Enjoy.
MoreHe knows his customers well. He has amazing sushi and it's in the middle of wholeys so it's fresh. It's a great place for lunch
MoreThe environment of the entrance of Wholey's, the way that you can watch Andy work his magic and interact with his customers--and in return, you get a rather large but no-frills sushi selection at lower prices than you'd find at a full-on sushi bar. As for the sushi itself, it is quite good and better than a lot of places in the city; you can tell if the ingredients are fresh, the sushi doesn't fall apart when you eat it, etc. The only drawback about this place is the wait. Since Andy's a one-man job, you can easily get stuck behind some large orders.
MoreFor the greatest Sushi in Pittsburgh, go to the source - Andy's! Nothing fresher or more delicious. It's worth the trip just for the Spring Rolls!
Morethe best sushi in town, and great prices too.
I love fish sushi rolls
Amazing sushi and very fresh. Andy is super nice and fun to watch. Reccomend to anyone who wants the market place feel.
MoreHands down the best sushi you will ever get, and Andy is amazing both as your chef and entertainer.
MoreGreat guy, always high quality fish and the rice is well-prepared.
Andy doesn’t need another review, but he’s the go-to food in the Strip
Freshes sushi in the area! Andy is the Man! Tell him to make a beautiful bouquet for you special someone! (Hand Roll)!
MoreI used to live close enough to the Strip that I took it for granted. All that amazing food to experience and bring home! Well now I live in rural Wisconsin. While I do love the very peaceful life style here there are times I just crave being able to go to Wholey's to just order from Andy. This past trip I got to do just that! I had a total PGH experience too! I parked illegally with my blinkers on in a alley. My wife sat in the car ready to dive off. I saw a guy nearly get run over by a box truck and all the excitement that caused. After negotiating my way through the insane press of a Saturday crowd shopping I made it to Andy's! I placed a HUGE order too! As I watched him slice the thin layers of fat of off the freshest fish I had time to get to know the guy behind me in line. I haven't eaten as good a sushi meal outside of my trip to Japan and that was when I was a stupid 20 something year-old.
MoreGreat place to eat highly worth going here to get anything
Awesome guy, great prices, quality food! I got the Wholey Maki. The only thing that could be better is if he had another person who could handle the money since he’s working with all the food.
MoreForget Disney World. Andy's Sushi Bar is the happiest place on Earth.
The best sushi in Pittsburgh by far
Andy makes the absolute best sushi for the price. I am a huge fan of sushi and honestly I don't think I have gone anywhere with a better value for sushi. He creates wonderful fresh sushi that is in large portions and charges less than most places do for half that much. Andy is an awesome guy and I always enjoy talking with him while he makes the sushi!
MoreFast service! Super nice! Best sushi I've had! I definitely recommend their Philadelphia roll and New York Maki roll!!!
MoreThe freshest, tastiest sushi I've ever had. As stated by basically every other review, the sushi is fresh, reasonably priced, and looks fantastic. Highly recommend you ask him to make you his favorite sushi- it won't disappoint at all.
MoreVery fresh. I got a rainbow roll. Loved it. Reasonable price. Glad I found a good sushi place. I am def. going back.
MoreDefinitely my go-to if I have the time. Fish is obviously fresh, Andy sometimes will give you an appetizer while you wait for people who order sushi for the whole office. The special rolls are huge. He's truely an artist when it comes to some of the flavor combinations. Not very flashy, hardly garnished, but dang it's good. Strip district sushi at it's finest.
MoreAndy is wonderful, tell him what you like and he take it from there and you are never disappointed.
MoreWow! No wonder he had 5 stars on Google!!!I have been trying to figure out the best sushi since moving to this Pittsburgh! And I’m happy to find this store. This’s my first time here to try his rolls. I and my dad was so lucky because no line at the time we came. We tried to order 6 ppl combo and he made our order with awesome conversation! He’s really friendly and nice; also his rolls was very beautiful too. Strongly recommend you guys and for sure we will come back... Worth To Try Guys!!!
